Ali Padilla, MS - Clinical Anaplastologist

My name is Alejandro (Ali) Padilla and I work as a Clinical Anaplastologist at the Center for Craniofacial Epithetics in Belgium.  I’m originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, where I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s in Fine Art. I worked as a sculpture lab coordinator at UNM and as freelance artist / medical illustrator before moving to Chicago, where I received my master's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Biomedical Visualization. I have been working in the field of Anaplastology since 2013.

I am a craftsman at heart, and I love to make things whenever and however I can - sculpting, drawing, building - you name it. I enjoy working in traditional, digital, and 3D mediums, and I am always looking for interesting new ways to combine these techniques in order to find innovative new solutions in the work that I do. Anatomical and medical themes have always been the focus of my work, and I use every tool available to craft visually striking images and objects. As an Anaplastologist, I work one-on-one with patients to make custom, hyper realistic facial prostheses (ears, noses, orbitals, eyes) and aesthetic silicone limbs and limb covers. Anaplastology has allowed me to combine my interests in art and science in very interesting, innovative, and meaningful ways.

Oxenfree Art | Anaplastology | Prosthetic Design

The aim of this site is to inform and educate the general public, potential patients, and professionals about the field of Anaplastology. All work on this site was created by myself (unless otherwise specified), and is coupled with my Instagram account — @oxenfree_prosthetics — to showcase what can be created with modern prosthetic technology. I have attempted to explain some of the processes involved in making the various types of prostheses, as well as to provide photographic examples of these processes. As a supplement to general information about Anaplastology, I also have included a list of useful links, websites, and resources where additional information relevant to the field can be found. As the fields of Anaplastology, Prosthetic Design, and Medical Art / Illustration overlap in various ways, these links will cover a broad range of topics — everything from education programs and annual conferences, to relevant tech and interesting blogs. I have also included a blog section where I will do my best to post interesting content and answer questions relevant to Anaplastology and the previously mentioned topics. Enjoy!
